# How long has ARKON OFF-ROAD been in business?
## ARKON OFF-ROAD was born in the summer of 2018 as a joint venture between Custom Offsets and SD Wheel — built to dominate the lifted and show truck wheel market with Proper Directional design.
ARKON OFF-ROAD was born in the summer of 2018 as a partnership between Custom Offsets and SD Wheel — two companies that had been working side-by-side in the truck wheel industry since 2013. The name itself comes from the Greek word "Archon," meaning ruler and first — a fitting foundation for a brand built to lead.
The mission was clear from day one: build aggressive, **Proper Directional**, high-quality cast wheels for the lifted and show truck market — delivering forged-inspired styling at a cast-wheel price point. ARKON launched with the backing of the largest media team in the wheel industry and one of the largest truck wheel distributors in the nation.
Today, ARKON OFF-ROAD is rated 4.9 out of 5 stars from nearly 800 reviews and has built a loyal following of show truck builders, lifted truck owners, and enthusiasts who demand bold, attention-getting fitments. [Read the full ARKON story here.](https://www.arkonoffroad.com/ark/history)
